My second day in the Almafi coast we visited the island of Capri. Because Capri is an island, it’s only accessible by boat or plane and for tourists like myself I took a ferry boat. Why is this relevant you might ask? The waves along with strong winds condemn the group with bad weather on this day. Approximately half of us (half the people on the boat) became ill or what you would call sea sick. Courtesy of our ferry boat, we were all given complementary barf bags so no mess was made in the process. I’m not going to allow my terrible ferry experience ruin my trip so I was determined to have a good time. We hiked uphill to the top of the island for what seemed to be forever and it was here where I was introduced to Limoncello. Sipping over frozen Limoncello overlooking Capri’s magnificent view, my day couldn’t have been more perfect.I felt like I was looking at a postcard and I was blown away by the view. Besides the terrible weather and not being able to swim in the blue grotto because of it, I had a great time in Capri. This island is very enchanting and my only wish is that I had more time there.
Capri known as the Mediterranean jewel became a Greek colony and then a resort (Capreae) of emperors in the early years of the Roman Empire dating back to its prehistoric time.Since the second half of the 19th century, Capri has gradually become one of the most popular resorts in southern Italy, famous for its beautiful scenery and amazing weather. This island is very small; it is made up of a single block of limestone 3.9 miles long with a max width of 1.8 miles (total area of about 4 miles). Fun fact: Capri was governed by French and the British, changing hands several times during the Napoleonic Wars, before being returned to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1813.
